What I find easiest, is to make your sketch reeeal big, then use the pencil tool (in photoshop, at least) to line. Its pixelly but the pen pressure's good. I also use a lot of layers with lineart, eg. I might have a layer for the basic outline of something, another for just one single line, another for this detail and another for that...no real order to it, just seperates things. so that if I screw up I can easily locate the mistake without having to tamper with other sections, you know? But once I'm all done with that, I chuck those layers into a group and resize the image down. Makes the lines look smoother, rather than all pixelly!
Doing that isn't everyone's thing but I find it produces clean, smooth lines. Also if you're using a tablet it will make things easier bc pen pressure is a life saver.
